Gateway Wonder

Fang Lu’s latest solo exhibition, Gateway Wonder, the artist explicitly confides to the viewer with her personal emotions. These delicate thoughts such as meditation, excitement, ecstasy, or happiness are all cohesively connected to both the heart and objects. In other words, Fang shows us the possibilities of lush communication between the inner spirit and outer materialistic world. The English title is driven from the book on ancient Chinese medicine – “The Inner Canon of Huangdi”. It refers to the primal encounter with the world phenomenon. It means that if observation is truly practice without preconception, it might become a gateway to wonder. With this in mind, “wonder” is subjective and is on the boarder state of escalation; as this process can be both mysterious yet realistic.

Gateway Wonder serves as an emotional theatre, taking viewers away from the reality and attending the inner universe of the artist.
